Technology and agriculture have always been partners. Most of the advances have been in mechanical areas. Today mechanical advances combine with electronics. The AGTV Network continues our April Equipment Highlight with Case IH. We have seen that Case IH has the equipment for large and small operations. Today we look at the utility product, not the tractors but skid steer and the UTV (the Case IH version of a utility ATV).

Have a tight spot to work in? A narrow passage to move mateial through? Maybe you have lots of space but lots of work as well. Regardless of the job Case IH has the skid steer.

Online auction set for quality Hereford bulls tested in tough feeding conditions

CASPER – An online auction will be held April 12-15 for bulls that participated in a feed efficiency test at the University of Wyoming’s Sustainable Agriculture Research Extension Center (SAREC) in Lingle, Wyo.

The Wyoming Hereford Association’s 2011 Forage Based Feed Efficiency Test Internet Auction is offering bulls that took part in a new Residual Feed Intake (RFI) test using the GrowSafe system at SAREC. 

“Top Hereford breeders from Wyoming tested a wide variety of high quality genetics with some very good results in some tough winter feeding conditions.  These bulls offered are high quality.  Producers interested in the upsurge in the Hereford breed should be very pleased with the bulls offered in this sale,” said Scott Keith, Livestock Genetics Program manager for the Wyoming Business Council. 

Six Wyoming Hereford producers entered 40 bulls in the test which ran from Dec. 7, 2010 to Feb. 15, 2011.  The producers included Jay Berry Herefords of Cheyenne; Largent and Sons of Kaycee; S.E. West and Sons of Lusk; Middleswarth Ranch of Torrington; McClun’s Polled Herefords of Veteran; and Hadley Ranch Co. of Wheatland.

It started in 1869 with Jerome Increase Case and Company, steam powered equipment that still incorporated horse power of the original variety.

1892 brought in the first gasoline powered tractor.


The early 1900's brought about the 30-60 gas powered tractor.


Row crop tractors started and the famous Harvester Red #50 is adopted.



Farmall Letter Series (A and B, H and M ) started in 1939.

Farmall switched from Letter Series to Number Series in 1954

As the mid 1900 approached heavy duty 4WD drive tractors were being developed by third parties that would eventually become part of the family.

Technology continues to advance as do the tractors.

Companies merged, historic products are reintroduced with modern technology, but Case IH remains RED.

Equipment Manufacturer Highlight

April is here and this month The AGTV Network highlights Case New Holland and will focus on the agriculture sector of the company.

Case New Holland features a rich history, starting in the 1800's. 1831 is the year that Cyrus Hall McCormick invents the mechanical reaper.

From that date forward several changes take place that helped shape the company we know today.
